4 Gel Nail Trends for Fall 2020
Posted on September 02 2020
Leaves are starting to fall, pumpkin spice everything is back, and it’s nearly time to break out the fuzzy over sized sweaters for those very important Instagram pics of your gel manicures. The change of seasons is always an exciting time and gel nail color trends for fall 2020 are no exception. Today we’re talking about all the great autumn looks that will coordinate with socially distanced visits to pumpkin patches and tailgating.
1) Matte finish - While a shiny gel manicure is always in style, a matte finish on gel nails is a fun way to change things up and make those fall nail colors even more autumnal. All you need is a matte gel top coat after applying your base and gel color.
2) Ombré - Yes, you’ve seen a million ombré manicures on Pinterest over the years, but they aren’t going anywhere. For an updated gradient look, try shades of khaki, gold, or richer jewel tones like eggplant, purple, and lavender. Classic blue is not only the Pantone Color of the Year for 2020 but imagine an ombré gel manicure in shades of blue to complement all your fall denim.
3) Metallics - If you look at pics from the 1980s you’ll probably notice the trend back then was frosty metallics--pinks, lavenders, even whites. While today’s metallics are maybe not so reminiscent of teased hair and glam rock, muted fall shades of golds and bronzes are definitely a look that works for now and into the coming months.
4) Geometric details - Here’s where you can get really fun and creative. Consider using a striper brush to create simple lines of contrasting colors or even a little more complex windowpane pattern or plaid. A very minimalist vertical line placed down the center of the nail goes well with stacked rings or simple, dainty jewelry.
Enjoy fall, y’all, and show us your gel manis over on Instagram!
