Every day we see so many different Nail Shapes. Since the beginning of this industry, nail shapes have changed and nail technicians have gone out of comfort zones to learn new techniques and stay up to date on all of the latest trends.
We haven’t given all of the shapes to date, but here’s some of the more popular ones!
Square Nails This shape has a flat top with sharp corners. Most people with narrow nail beds tend to enjoy this shape because it widens them. This is another shape people find easy to maintain as the shape tends to be stronger.
Round Nails This shape curves at the edge and follows the shape of your natural fingertip. The shape can extend the look of your fingers, which is never a bad thing! This is a great shape if you like your nails shorter and it’s a bit easier maintaining.
Squoval Nails This shape is a mix between oval and square. You get the best of all shapes with a flat top but rounded corners. Again, this is a great shape for shorter nails and is also on the easier side to maintain.
Oval Nails This shape is a lot more elongated than the round shape. It is tapered a little and kind of has an egg shape to it. Oval nails have a softer tip and look great on longer nails but can work with short nails also!
Almond Nails This shape is filed along the sides, similar to the oval shape. The nail is filed in more than the oval nail making it look like an almond, but not to a full point. These nails generally need to be done by acrylic or gel because it is a bit longer than the styles above.
Stiletto Nails This shape is also filed in along the sides, but is filed into a point. When they’re done long they can look very dramatic and give you a ton of room for designs and 3-D nail art. These can be used as a defensive method... just kidding. But really a little extra security couldn’t hurt!
Coffin or Ballerina Nails This shape is filed in along the sides as well but has a flat top instead of coming to a point like the stiletto nail. This also looks very similar to a coffin or ballerina slipper, hence the name. These look great with short and long nails.
